Lady Knights Split with Seawolves on Friday!

Warwick, R.I. – April 23, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights softball team traveled to Southern Maine Community College in Portland, ME on Friday to play the Seawolves in a doubleheader. The Lady Knights and Seawolves split by losing the first game 14-7 and winning the second game 9-1 in six innings. With the split the Lady Knights improve to 7-13 on the season.

Game 1: CCRI- 7 SMCC- 14

In the circle getting the start for the Lady Knights was Tri-Captain Kailee Morgan (Charlestown, RI) who threw five strong innings against a very stout Seawolves line-up. Morgan gave-up six earned runs on 12 hits with four walks and six strikeouts to take the loss. She was relieved by freshman Sam Muller (North Stonington, CT) who threw an inning of relief giving up four earned runs on four hits, with a walk but did not factor into the decision.

At the plate for the Lady Knights freshman Michelle Spremulli (Warwick, RI) led the way with two hits including a double with three RBIs and a run scored. Hannah Caliri (Pawtucket, RI) also had two hits with a double adding two RBIs and two runs scored. Tri-Captain Stevie-Rae Travers-Wood (Little Compton, RI) had a single, an RBI and a run scored while freshman Maddie McDonald (East Providence, RI) had a hit a run scored and a stolen base. Rounding out the Lady Knights attack was Danielle David (West Greenwich, RI) had two hits and a run scored, Sam Muller added a hit and Dalynn Jacobs (Riverside, RI) had a walk and a run scored.

Game 2: CCRI- 9 SMCC- 1 in six innings

In the circle for the Lady Knights was their ace Hannah Caliri who was simply scintillating while throwing six innings allowing just one earned run on five hits with four walks and eleven strikeouts. At the plate Caliri helped her own cause by adding two hits a stolen base and a run scored to the Lady Knights' offense. More importantly she shut down the hot bats from Southern Maine as they went from getting 16 hits in game one to just five hits in game 2.

At the plate for the Lady Knights Tri-Captain Miranda Sasso (Smithfield, RI) led the way with two hits with three RBIs and a run scored. Freshman Maddie McDonald added three hits and two runs scored and Michelle Spremulli (Warwick, RI) had two hits, two runs scored, a stolen base and an RBI. Also having a very good game was Dalynn Jacobs with a hit, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored.

The Lady Knights have no time to rest as they face the Colts of Orange County Community College for a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12noon and another gave vs the Colts Sunday at 11am as part of 2018 CCRI Lady Knights Softball Sophomore Day.
