Warwick, R.I. – April 18, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights softball team traveled to New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in Concord, NH for a doubleheader versus the very talented Lynx. The Lady Knights lost the first game 8-6 and the second 5-0. With the two losses CCRI falls to 6-12 on the season

Game 1: CCRI- 6 NHTI- 8

In the circle for the Lady Knights in the first game was freshman Hannah Caliri (Pawtucket, RI) who had a tall task ahead of her facing the Lynx that came into the game with a .369 team batting average with 18 homeruns and 194 runs scored in 22 games with a 17-5 overall record. Caliri had one bad inning that sealed her fate. She threw seven strong innings allowing just four hits with six walks and three strikeouts but the fourth inning was not kind to her. Hannah cruised through the first three innings allowing just one run on one hit but in the fourth the Lynx got six runs helped by a grand slam from Danyel McNicholas (her 4th homer of year). The big inning gave NHTI a 7-2 lead. The Lady Knights scored three back in the sixth and one in the seventh but NHTI also added a run in the seventh to win by the final count of 8-6.

At the plate for CCRI Tri-Captain Kailee Morgan (Charlestown, RI) led the way with two hits and a run scored followed by Dalynn Jacobs (Riverside, RI) who had a double an RBI and a run scored. Also having a good game was Tri-Captain Stevie-Rae Travers-Wood (Little Compton, RI) who had a double and a run scored and Hannah Caliri helped her own cause with a single and two RBIs. Also helping CCRI was Vanessa Santiago (Waterbury, CT) with a single and a run scored and Maddie McDonald (East Providence, RI) and Michelle Spremulli (Warwick, RI) added a hit apiece. The Lady Knights did an excellent job at the plate in this game versus NHTI's Brianna Whitcomb who has a 5-1 record and a 2.39 ERA.

Game 2: CCRI- 0 NHTI- 5

In the circle for the Lady Knights in game two was Tri-Captain Kailee Morgan who had to face the potent Lynx line-up. Morgan threw seven strong innings allowing five runs on seven hits with one walk and dour strikeouts. She did her best to quell the bats of the Lynx but they benefitted from three home runs which ultimately were the margin of victory. Kailee pitched well enough to get a better result but the CCRI offense only generated five hits in total.

At the plate CCRI got two more hits including a double from Morgan who tried to help her own cause but she was not able to score. Tri-Captain Stevie-Rae Travers-Wood, Michelle Spremulli and Sam Muller (North Stonington, CT) each added a hit for CCRI but they could not push a run across the plate and lost by the final count of 5-0. NHTI's Tori Lemay was masterful in the circle keeping the Lady Knights off balance by working ahead in the count throwing seven dominant innings allowing five hits, a walk with 11 strikeouts showing why she has a miniscule 1.91 ERA.

The next games for the Lady Knights will be Friday when they travel to Portland, ME to play the Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College for a doubleheader beginning at 4pm. The doubleheader at Massasoit CC scheduled for today April 18ht has been postponed with the hope of playing next week.
