Warwick, R.I. –April 10, 2018: The Knights CCRI Men's Basketball Team just received great news about their leading scorer Josh Williams (Atlanta, GA). The NJCAA just released the Division II Basketball All-American Teams and Williams earned Third Team All-American Honors.

Williams a freshman guard from Atlanta, GA led the Knights in scoring this year charting 22.2 points per game which ranked him No. 10 by the NJCAA. In 28 of the 29 games he played he scored in double-figures including scoring 20 or more 17 times, 30 or more five times and 40or more twice. His signature game was versus Bristol Community College where he scored a CCRI Program record 56 points breaking the 26-year old record of Brendan Murphy who scored 49 in 1992.

Williams was not just a scorer as he also led the team with 5.3 assists per game and led the team in total steals with 46. He also charted two double-doubles during the season: a 23 point 10 assist game versus Hostos and a 21 point 10 rebound game versus Bunker Hill Community College.

Williams always did whatever he could to help the Knights win the game including their final game versus Niagara County Community College where he poured in 43 points with six rebounds and three assists in a narrow 98-94 loss. In fact, had he not been in foul trouble during that game there may have had a different outcome for the Knights.

Josh is also an excellent student, putting the "student" in the student-athlete. He made the CCRI honor roll in the first semester and has an impressive 3.26 GPA.

Head Coach Rick Harris had this to say about his talented freshman guard: "Josh's teammates and coaches congratulate him on his very deserving NJCAA Third team All-American honor. Josh continues in the fine tradition of talented CCRI backcourt players whose performance has garnered national recognition. I am proud of Joshua and to see the hard work that he puts in each and every day pay off. He has truly earned this honor. Most of all I am proud of the fact Joshua is truly a student/ athlete who puts as much effort into his classroom studies as he does into his basketball. Congratulations to Joshua from the entire basketball program. It is a pleasure for all of us to play and work with you!"
