Getting Started
It is very easy to get started with Distance Learning. Information related to "registering" for both credit and non-credit courses is available below.
- You may want to review course offerings first:
- Review the Distance Learning (DL) Orientation
- Check the Technology Requirements for using DL tools
- Determine if Distance Learning is for you and you have the appropriate computer technology skills
- Read what other DL students have to say about their experiences
- Register for the course.
Registering for distance learning courses
- You must be enrolled at CCRI in order to register online for a distance
learning course. For information on admission to CCRI please see
Admissions Information.
- Once enrolled at CCRI, you can register for a distance learning
course the same way you would for any other course. See the schedule
of distance learning courses.
For information on registering for a course please see
Registrar - Frequently Ask Questions.
- Once you are registered for a course please review any special requirements
and/or instructions. Instructions and information for most Web courses
can be found by
logging in to your MyCCRI account, clicking on the My Courses
tab and then clicking on the green link to the specific course. For
most Web courses please see
instructions for creating a WebCT account and adding your course
(note that this does not apply to the Music courses and most telecourses).
Please see additional
requirements and information for telecourses.
- Books can be ordered through the
CCRI Bookstore. Note that
many of the WebCT courses will require a special access code that is
normally purchased with the book. It is a good idea to check the ISBN
to make sure that you have the correct book with access code before
purchasing. If you are buying a used book, WebCT access codes can also
be purchased
online directly from WebCT. Note that there is a 15-day grace period
for many courses that allows students to access the course with a temporary
code. Since permanent access codes are non-refundable once they've been
used, it is a good idea to use a temporary access code until the drop/add
period is over.
- Review the distance learning orientation for students at CCRI.
Registering for a non-credit distance learning course or program
The Center for Workforce & Community Education offers hundreds of instructor-facilitated non-credit web courses allowing you to acquire
new skills or learn a new subject in as little as six weeks, all at an affordable
cost. The Division also offers web-based workforce training programs open for immediate enrollment. For
