Clinic Services
The Dental Hygiene Clinic at the Community College of Rhode Island provides professionally supervised dental cleaning to the public for FREE! Our goal at the clinic is to assist individuals to eliminate and prevent oral disease and maintain optimal oral health.
CCRI facilities follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
The Dental Hygiene Clinic is a classroom/learning environment for student dental hygienists and operates during the academic year, September to May. Comprehensive and thorough dental hygiene treatment is provided under the supervision of a licensed dentist and dental hygienist. Clinic appointments are two hours long and some patients may need more than one visit to complete treatment. If multiple appointments are necessary to complete treatment, no additional fee is charged. Patients are welcome for dental hygiene treatment every 12 months after initial completion. Parking is available at no cost and the facility is accessible to patients using wheelchairs.

The student will perform a thorough examination and cleaning of the teeth. This includes examining the hard and soft tissue of the head and neck; recording tissue and tooth structures; charting restorations, crowns and bridges; assessing the soft debris and plaque in the mouth; and removing calcified deposits on the teeth. | *Sealants |
All patients must have cleaning and exam in the dental hygiene clinic prior to sealant placement. The student will place protective plastic coating on the chewing surfaces of eligible teeth to prevent cavities. |

The student will expose a full mouth radiographs to examine the teeth and surrounding structures. A duplicate set of x-rays will be forwarded to your dentist for diagnosis. |

Directions
If traveling north or south on Route 295: Take Exit 18A to Route 146 south and follow directions below for traveling south on Route 146.
If traveling north on Route 95: Take Exit 23 onto Route 146 north and follow directions below for traveling north on Route 146.
If traveling south on Route 95: Take Exit 23 for Charles Street. Turn right and continue straight on Charles Street for approximately three-tenths of a mile (0.3 mile) following signs for Route 146 north. At the second traffic signal (across from the entrance to Home Depot), turn left onto the Route 146 north on-ramp and follow directions below for Route 146 north.
If traveling south on Route 146: Take the Breakneck Hill Road exit and turn right onto Route 123 west. At first traffic light, turn left onto Route 246: continue one-tenth of a mile (0.1 mile) to the campus entrance on the right.
If traveling north on Route 146: Take the Breakneck Hill Road Exit and turn left onto Route 123 west. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Route 246. Continue one-tenth of a mile (0.1 mile) to the campus entrance on the right.
Once on Campus:
Follow the signs to the South parking lot. Look for purple 'Dental Clinic' signs.
Use the center Entrance B, take a right, and go through double doors.
The clinic is on the ground floor Room 1161.
RIPTA Service
Rhode Island Public Transit Authority provides bus service from Kennedy Plaza in Providence to the campus.

Patient’s Rights
The Community College of Rhode Island Dental Hygiene Clinic aims to provide the highest quality of services that its students are qualified to perform. High-quality dental hygiene treatment is non-discriminatory and includes acceptance of all patients as worthy of careful, considerate care. We want you to know that in this clinic, you are entitled to the following:
- Considerate, respectful and confidential treatment.
- Continuity and completion of your dental hygiene treatment in so far as College and course schedules permit.
- Access to pertinent, current information about your dental hygiene condition.
- Explanation of recommended dental hygiene treatment, alternative treatment if available, the risk of not receiving treatment and the expected outcomes of these recommended treatments.
- The right to accept or refuse treatment
- The highest quality of treatment your student dental hygienist is able to complete in the available time.
You are entitled to the above regardless of your age, sex, sexual preference, religion or ethnic origin. We are pleased you elected to receive dental hygiene are in the CCRI Dental Hygiene Clinic and we look forward to assisting you as you pursue optimum oral health.
Patient’s Responsibilities
As a patient of the CCRI Dental Hygiene Clinic, you are expected to:
- Complete a medical/dental history.
- Report any subsequent change in your medical/dental history.
- Understand that the appointment length is at least two hours, and more than one appointment may be needed to complete dental hygiene treatment.
- Seek regular and routine dental care with an Established dentist.
- Provide 24-hour notice for cancellation of an appointment.

- Send your radiographic images to your dentist for diagnosis

- Some information, such as HIV-related information, generic information, alcohol and/or substance abuse records, and mental health records, may be entitled to special confidentiality jprotections under applicable state or federal law. We will abide by these special protections as they pertain to applicable cases involving these types of records
Our Responsibilities
- We are required by law to maintain the privacy and security of your protected health information.
- We will let you know promptly if a breach occurs that may have compromised the privacy or security of your information.
- We must follow the duties and privacy practices described in this notice and give you a copy of it.
- We will not use or share your information other than as described here unless you tell us we can in writing. If you tell us we can, you may change your mind at any time. Let us know in writing if you change your mind.
Changes to the Terms of this Notice
We can change the terms of this notice, and the changes will apply to all information we have about you. The new notice will be available upon request on our website, and we will mail a copy to you.
Filing a Complaint
- You can complain if you feel we have violated your rights by contacting us at 401-333-7330.
- You can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights by sending a letter to 200 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20201, calling 1-877-696-6775.
- We will not retaliate against you for filing a complaint.
