Changing Lives Celebration raises $43,000
A message from the President, Oct. 29, 2010
I am pleased to report that our Foundation’s fourth annual “Changing Lives Celebration” raised $43,600 for the Community College of Rhode Island. More than 160 guests turned out to celebrate U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, Roberta J. Winters and Honeywell as leaders in community, education and business and support our hardworking students on Oct. 21, at the Liston Campus in Providence.
The proceeds from the celebration will support college-wide initiatives and provide emergency funding for students.
I want to sincerely thank our key sponsors of the celebration, including Amica Mutual Insurance Company, Grainger, Lifespan, BankNewport and Vision Strategies. Additional sponsors deserving of our gratitude include Paul Brooks and the late Charles Sullivan, Constance Evrard, Newport Financial Associates, the Charles Sullivan Arts and Humanities Fund and Washington Trust.
Organizing an event of this size takes tremendous organization and coordination from the Foundation, Alumni Affairs and a team of volunteers. On behalf of the college community, I want to thank event co-chairs Richard Edwards, assistant vice president of Amica Mutual Insurance Company, and Nancy McMahon, vice president of human resources at The Miriam Hospital, as well as honorary co-chairs Paul Brooks, chief of protocol for the City of Providence, Constance Evrard, CCRI Foundation Trustee, and the late Charles Sullivan, professor emeritus.
I applaud all of the individuals who played a role in our success of continuing to help our students change their lives and achieve their dreams. We could not have been successful without your efforts.
