CCRI singers to perform at Carnegie Hall Feb. 14, 2014 -
Carnegie Hall in New York City is one of the world’s most famed performance spaces. Internationally renowned symphonies, choirs and other musical acts continually grace its stage. Soon, 13 students from the Community College of Rhode Island will join in those ranks as they get to experience the performance opportunity of a lifetime.
On Sunday, the students will participate alongside community colleges from around the country as part of the Masterworks Festival Chorus and New York City Chamber Orchestra’s presentation of Schubert’s “Mass in G.” The event is an annual occurrence sponsored by Manhattan Concert Productions. CCRI alumnus excels at London's Royal Academy of Music - Music conservatory programs are typically home to prodigies – men and women who picked up their first string bow as young as age 4 and who read music while their counterparts played with brightly colored, age-appropriate toys. This is the case at London’s Royal Academy of Music, where Community College of Rhode Island alumnus Joseph Bentley landed two years ago. [Read more]
