External Publicity

Information

Please note: When you notify us of your news, the Department of Marketing and Communications will determine the appropriate places to publish it. We'll talk with you about your target audience and let you know the means by which we have to reach them.

Press releases and public service announcements

The Marketing and Communications staff will send out press releases and public service announcements (PSAs). These are run at the discretion of the media and often generate interest in an event or topic leading to additional coverage. In an effort to target your information to appropriate audiences, the Department of Marketing and Communications maintains a database of all area media outlets and will target your information to the appropriate outlets. When press releases are published and PSAs are aired on the radio or TV, there is no charge. Newspapers and TV and radio stations like to receive information about two weeks in advance of the event. Please send us your material well in advance to allow for editing and distribution. Also, the Marketing and Communications Office has a contract with a newsclip agency; therefore, all newsclips pertaining to the college (except for advertisements and sports) are sent to this department. Contact Kristen Cyr.

Requests for coverage

If a program, activity or event is something that newspapers or television may be likely to cover, the Marketing and Communications staff will send out a request for television coverage to assignment editors or contact individual newspaper reporters to cover the event or do a feature story. There is no guarantee that we will get such coverage. There’s a lot of competition for time and space out there! Contact Kristen Cyr.

Paid advertising

The department reserves a limited portion of its budget for academic departments that wish to request program specific ads. To best serve you, please be prepared to provide information about your audience and available budget. Submit project and budget details online.

Home page link or feature

Sections of the CCRI home page are reserved for highlighting and marketing events and news to the public. To request a temporary link or feature, submit your news or announcement online.

Social media

CCRI has a presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+ and Vimeo for sharing news and information to its community of fans and followers. To request an announcement, submit details using our online request form.

Entrance signs

The signs at the entrances to the Knight Campus and Flanagan Campus are promotional and informational tools designed to inform the public about CCRI events and activities. Messages posted should therefore be of general interest to students, faculty, staff or the public, relating directly to CCRI activities, especially those taking place at the Warwick or Lincoln campuses. LCD screens are located at the center of the Hall of Fame kiosk near the main entrance of the Knight Campus in Warwick and at the entrance of the Newport County Campus. Campus maps and news and events announcements are shared on the screens. To request an announcement, submit details using our online request form.
