Dental insurance is available to all eligible employees † effective on the date of hire or the first day of the semester for faculty members. Eligible employees may select individual or family dental insurance with Delta Dental of Rhode Island.

Changes to dental insurance may be made during open enrollment, and take effect the first pay period in January, unless a Qualifying Status Change is experienced.

Any change in employment classification that would result in the loss of eligibility to participate in the dental insurance plan may qualify an employee for benefits continuation under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). Employees should refer to the COBRA (Continuation of Health Insurance Coverage) policy for more information.

Waiving Dental Insurance: Should an employee already have insurance coverage through other means, he/she may elect to waive dental insurance coverage. An employee may reverse this waiver should a change in family status result in a loss of dental insurance through other means.
