Plate 2 represents the arrangement of the major thoracic arteries in the cat. Note the three possible arrangements of the brachiocephalic artery and its branches. Only one of those variations has a bicarotid trunk. You will be responsible for all three since they are found commonly in the cats. There are no pictures of the left and right pulmonary arteries since they are very small. We will study those vessels in the calf heart lab (Lab 4). Also, you should note that the heart is still happy!
