Volleyball Beats MassBay 3-0 in Wellesley!

Warwick, R.I. – October 20, 2021:  The CCRI Lady Knights Volleyball Team travelled to MassBay Community College in Wellesley, MA to play the Buccaneers for their final regular season Region XXI match-up. The Lady Knights defeated MassBay 3-0: 25-13, 25-15 and 25-9. With the victory CCRI finishes the regular season with a 5-3 record.

The Lady Knight had played the Buccaneers once already Saturday the 9th on the Lady Knights’ home court in Lincoln, RI where CCRI was victorious 3-0.  The Lady Knights were out to repeat their earlier performance and finish the regular season on a high note.  CCRI did just that making quick work of the Buccaneers with the 3-0 victory with MassBay never amassing more than 15 points in any game of the match.

Leading the way statistically for CCRI was freshman Outside Hitter Savanna Martinez (Central Falls, RI) with seven Kills and tow aces for nine total points while helping defensively with nine digs. Co-captain Madison Capwell (Coventry, RI) also had a very good match with a team-leading eight kills and one ace for nine total points while adding eight digs defensively for the Lady Knights. Freshman Libero Aliana Winn (Lincoln, RI) was dominant from the service line with a team-high seven aces while adding one kill for eight total points while also shoring-up the defense with a match-high 12 digs. Freshman co-captain Setter Kelsey Conway (Coventry, RI) directed the Lady Knights’ offense well with 19 assists while adding three kills, three aces for six points while adding six digs.

The next match for the Lady Knights will be Saturday the 23rd when they will travel to Northern Essex Community College to compete in the Region XXI Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Knights will face the Warriors of Massasoit Community College from Brockton, MA at 1pm.  If the Lady Knights are victorious they will face the winner of the Northern Essex MassBay match being played at 11am. The Region XXI Championship match will be played at 3pm.  All matches will be streamed live on the NECC YouTube channel:
