Warwick, R.I. – November 23, 2021: Both of the CCRI basketball teams are off to a hot start in the 2021-22 season. The Knights Men’s Basketball Team is enjoying a five game winning streak with their only loss of the season coming in their first game when they lost 70-67 to the No. 2 ranked team in the Country Nassau County Community College. The Knights’ success is backed up in their team statistics. The Knights lead the Nation in Field Goal Percentage shooting at an impressive 53.6% which has helped them score 511 points on the season which ranks them No. 17 in the NJCAA. One of the reasons for the high percentage is the way the Knights share the ball with 20.2 assists per game which ranks them No. 5 in the NJCAA. Not only does CCRI score at a high percentage they hold their opponents to just 36.6% from the field which ranks them No. 6 in the nation. The final piece of the puzzle for the Knights is the fact that they outrebound their opponents by a margin of 27.5 rebounds per game which ranks them No. 4 in the NJCAA in Rebound Margin. The Lady Knights Basketball Team is off to an equally good start with an impressive 4-1 record with their only loss coming in a hard fought contest with the No. 5 ranked Monroe-Bronx Express 48-46 on their home court. Much like the Knights, the Lady Knights’ success is reflected in their team statistics. The Lady Knights are ranked No. 5 in the NJCAA shooting an impressive 45.7% Field Goal Percentage. In addition, they are ranked No. 8 by the NJCAA making 5.6 3-pointers per game while shooting at a 31.8% from beyond the 3-point arc to rank them No. 7 nationally. One reason for these high percentages is the way they share the ball with 18.4 assists per game which ranks the No. 2 nationally. However, their calling card may be on the defensive end where they allow just 44.8 points per game which ranks them No. 3 by the NJCAA. In addition, they hold their opponents to just a 28.8 Field goal percentage which ranks them No. 6 in the NJCAA. View team overview and statistics (here).
