Warwick, R.I. – November 17, 2021: The CCRI Knights basketball team travelled to Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA to play the Warriors for a Region XXI league game. The Knights defeated the Warriors 90-80. With the victory CCRI improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Region XXI play.

The Knights were riding a three-game win streak and have also been receiving national attention. CCRI is beginning to receive votes in the latest (11/15/21) NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Poll. This game was a contrast in styles: the size and strength of the Knights squad versus the speed and quickness of the Massasoit squad. The two big men’s efforts were just enough to hold-off the relentless attack of the Warriors’ star guard Amari Andrew-Brown who scored 23 of the Warriors’ first half points.

In the second half Mitchel Noresca led the way again for the Knights with 14 ore points and was assisted by Theo Jadotte who added six more points to his total. The Knights guards also began to get into a bit of a flow as well as Sophomore captain Luke Fusaro (Charlestown, RI) scored six points and RJ Pina (East Providence, RI) added five points. The Knights held the pace with the high-scoring Warriors which allowed them to extend their lead to 10 points as they went on to win by the final score of 90-80 in Brockton, MA.

Leading the way for the Knights was sophomore forward Mitchel Noresca with his fifth Double-Double in five games with a team-high 30 points and 16 rebounds with three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Freshman forward Theo Jadotte also had a Double-Double scoring a season-high 20 points with 12 rebounds, an assist and two blocked shots. Freshman guard RJ Pina scored 13 points with, three rebounds and an assist. Freshman point guard Nelvin Blanco (Cranston, RI) distributed the ball well with six points, seven assists, three steals and two rebounds. Freshman guard Michael Harris (Cranston, RI) helped Blanco of the bench as a playmaker with adding seven assists with two steals, four rebounds and three points.
