Warwick, R.I. – January 21, 2022:  The No. 9 ranked (NJCAA DIII Men’s Basketball Poll 1/18/22) CCRI Knights Men’s Basketball Team traveled to Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) Thursday evening for a Region XXI Showdown with the Rams. The Knights defeated the Rams 108-70.  With the victory CCRI improves to 11-2 overall and 9-0 in Region XXI play.

This was the first meeting between the Knights and Rams who came into the game with a respectable 6-6 record.  The Knights were looking to remain perfect in the region with a victory on the road versus the Rams.  The Knights were without their Head Coach Rick Harris who could not make the road trip but Marcus Douthit stepped-up in his absence and helped lead a knockout performance by the Knights.

The Knights had a distinct size advantage and utilized it to establish dominance over the Rams. Freshman forward Theo Jadotte (Providence, RI) was virtually unstoppable in the first half, pouring in 17 of his 21 points in the first half.  Jadotte was helped by sophomore co-captain forward Mitchel Noresca (East Providence, RI) who scored 11 points in the half, including his first career 3-pointer.  Jadotte and Noresca combined for 28 first half points while STCC only managed 26 as a team.  The Knights went into halftime leading the Rams 56-26.

In the second half it was the Mitchel Noresca show as he poured in 20 of his game-high 31 points in the half.  With a comfortable lead, the Knights were able to get valuable playing time for many of their reserves as the cruised to the 108-70 victory.

Leading the way for the Knights was co-captain Mitchel Noresca charting his 26th career Double-Double with 31 points and 15 rebounds to go with three steals, two assists and a blocked shot. Noresca is ranked No. 3 on the all-time rebounding list with 719 career rebounds just six rebounds behind No. 2 Edvaldo Ferreira and 42 behind all-time rebound leader Walt “Stretch” Edwards. Freshman Forward Theo Jadotte charted his fifth Double-Double of the season scoring 21 points with 13 rebounds while adding two steals and a blocked shot.  Freshman center Levi King (Westerly, RI) had 10 points, four assists, two blocked shots and two rebounds.  Co-captain Luke Fusaro (Charlestown, RI) chipped in with 10 points, three steals, two assists and two rebounds.  Freshman forward Michael Resnick (Gloucester, RI) added nine points, four rebounds and an assist.
