Our series continues of introducing our readers to our coaching staff and their particular philosophies. Our next introduction is Head Women's Soccer coach, Jim McGirr

How would you describe your coaching style?

My goal is to teach the players that there are multiple styles and formations to play and win the game.

What is your most memorable moment as a coach?

Winning the Big East Championship at Villanova.

How would you describe your team culture?

All inclusive. Allowing all players to feel invested with no feeling of seniority.

Who is your coaching role model and why?

Professionally: Mauriccio Pochettino (former Tottenham Hotspur manager, now Paris Saint Germain) Personally: Dave Nolan (Georgetown Women's Soccer)

What is your favorite quote?

"Hard work will always beat talent, when talent doesn't work hard."

What lessons did you learn from your playing days?

Players will always know when you're not prepared or don't know.

What are the characteristics you look for in student-athletes?

Character, athleticism and IQ.

What word best describes your current team?

Determined.

Who is one athlete you remember watching as a kid who really impressed you on and off the field?

2 players: Mark Messier, NY Rangers, consummate Leader! Glenn Hoddle, Tottenham Hotspur, gifted player & person.

What factors played in your decision to become a coach at CCRI?

Working with players who truly play for their love for the game.
