CCRI- 3 BHCC- 0 (25-18, 25-19 and 25-20)

The Lady Knights were hungry for a victory with their slow start to the season while the Bulldogs were playing their first match of the season and looking to start the season on a positive note. CCRI grabbed the first set with a convincing 25-18 victory. The Lady Knights maintained their intensity for the second and third sets winning them by the scores of 25-19 and 25-20 to take the 3-0 match victory. The Lady Knights have won the first set of every match in which they have competed but have only been able to keep that momentum alive in two of those matches including this one which was nice to see. The Lady Knights will look to keep this momentum rolling as they host the CCRI Volleyball Classic tournament this weekend at the Flanagan Campus Fieldhouse Saturday and Sunday.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Captain Manuela Restrepo (Central Falls, RI) with six Kills, three Service Aces for nine total points and six Digs. Also having a very good match for CCRI was freshman Alexis Baffoni (Coventry, RI) converting a team-leading seven Kills, one Ace for seven points while adding six Digs. Freshman Marilyn McKay (Warwick, RI) had a breakout game for CCRI with two Kills, an ACE and for Solo Blocks to give CCRI seven points. Freshman Mia Shola (North Kingstown, RI) had an excellent game from the service line with a team-leading seven Aces which gave the Lady Knights seven points while also contributing defensively with six Digs. Also helping CCRI were Setters Gabriella Blumenstock (Warwick, RI) and Joanna Wong (Cranston, RI) combining for 20 Assists: Wong with 13 and Blumenstock with seven.

The next matches for CCRI will be this weekend when they host the CCRI Volleyball Classic at the CCRI Flanagan Campus Fieldhouse in Lincoln. CCRI will host Northern Essex CC from Haverhill, MA, Massasoit CC from Brockton, MA, Fashion Institute from New York, NY and Bunker Hill Community College from Charlestown, MA. The Tournament will begin at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday.
