Knights Better Personal-best Times at Tri-State!

Warwick, R.I. – October 7, 2019: The CCRI Cross Country student-athletes hosted the 2019 CCRI Tri-State Invitational on Saturday over the CCRI 5k women’s and 8k men’s Cross Country Courses. The Lady Knights had one runner compete Ashley Lawrence (Barrington, RI) and the Knights’ men had two competitors Brandon Bun (Pawtucket, RI) and Gavin Kearney (Coventry, RI)
Both the men and women team winners were Trinity College. The women scored 11 points and men scored 45 points (lowest score wins). The individual winners for teach race also came from Trinity College. In the women’s race senior Samantha Feenstra dominated the 5k course in an impressive time of 19 minutes 26.39 seconds beating her teammate Julia Burdulis by over 26 seconds. In the men’s race the first three runners were from Trinity with Tim Lautenbach leading the way with an impressive 26:21.71.

Both CCRI teams ran incomplete as teams but had some excellent individual performances. For the Knights Gavin Kearney and Brandon Bun ran personal-best times on their home course. Kearney placed 74th in a time of 36:15.17 and Bun placed 77th in a time of 36:47.5. For the Lady Knights Ashley Lawrence ran a good time placing 55th in the time of 26.41.2.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the race: “It was nice to see our runners perform well on our home course. Gavin and Brandon both ran personal bests.”
The next meet for the CCRI Cross Country runners will be Saturday October 19th when they will travel to Boston, MA to compete in the Suffolk University Invitational at 10am.
