Warwick, R.I. – November 13, 2019: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Orange County Community its College in Middletown, NY to play the Colts for a game on Tuesday evening. The Lady Knights lost to the Colts 61-49. With the loss CCRI falls to 2-2 on the season.
The Lady Knights knew they would be in for a tough battle versus the Colts of Orange County a team they are very familiar with and play in a home and away series every year. This game would be no different. Usually the Lady Knights come out on the winning end of these tough battles but the Colts showed tremendous resolve on their home court as they overcame and early deficit to overcome CCRI.
The Lady Knights jumped out to a 14-11 lead after the first quarter and were able to extend their lead to seven points with the score 36-29 by halftime. In the second half the Lady Knights’ offense began to wither as they only mustered eight points in the third quarter which found them trailing 47-44 at the end of three quarters. The fourth quarter was even worse for the Lady Knights as they only scored five points while Orange scored 14 to increase their lead and the Colts won by the final count of 61-49. Though it was a tough road loss for the Lady Knights it will serve as a good learning experience and provide motivation for when the Colts come to Rhode Island to face the Lady Knights later in the a season.
