Lady Knights Vanquished by Vikings in Valhalla

Warwick, R.I. – January 22, 2020: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY for a game versus the Vikings on Tuesday evening. The Lady Knights lost to the Vikings 60-53. With the loss CCRI falls to 4-17 on the season.
The Lady Knights have been going through a rough stretch of their schedule playing many top ranked and higher division teams but Tuesday’s game in Valhalla marked a contest where CCRI could get back into the win column. Westchester jumped out to a seven point lead after the first quarter 17-10. The Lady Knights were led by sophomore Co-Captain Nicole Chamberlain (West Warwick, RI) who scored six points on two 3-pointers Westchester was paced by Tina Fabrizi who scored seven points. In the second quarter the CCRI offense started to click as they scored 16 points as five Lady Knights scored led by freshman Co-Captain Jazlynn DiZoglio (Providence, RI) who scored six points. Both teams went into the halftime break with the Vikings leading 35-26.
In the third quarter the CCRI offense once again had a hard time finding the basket as they could only score eight points while Westchester erupted for 18 points. The Lady Knights trailed 34-53 going into the final quarter but finished the game with their best quarter of the game scoring 19 points with five players scoring for them led by freshman Co-Captain Reilly Hodge (Wakefield, RI) who scored six points. However, the Lady Knights’ comeback fell short as they lost by the final score of 60-53.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was freshman Co-Captain Reilly Hodge with her second double-double of the season scoring 12 points with 13 rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore Co-Captain Nicole Chamberlain scored 12 points on four 3-pointers with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman Co-Captain Jazlynn DiZoglio had 10 points with seven assists, three steals and three rebounds. Ireauna Pegus (Middletown, RI) had seven points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two assists. Sophomore Co-Captain Faith Fahnbulleh (Providence, RI) had 10 rebounds for the fifth time in the past six games with five points, two steals and an assist.
The next game for the Lady Knights will be Saturday the 25th when they host the Colts of Orange County Community College at 1:00pm.
