Warwick, R.I. – January 16, 2020: The CCRI Knights men’s basketball team hosted the Massasoit Community College Warriors on Wednesday night. The Knights offense sparked to life and ran away in a 96-62 victory. The win improves CCRI’s season record to 11-6 overall and 7-0 in Region XXI play.

After a difficult weekend losing two games against quality opponents, CCRI looked to get back to winning ways and stay perfect in Region XXI. The game started rather slow with both teams playing neck and neck. The Knights led the Warriors by six points 21-15 with 11:38 left in the first half.

It wasn’t until approximately seven minutes left in the first half that CCRI began to pull away. Their offense began to double both their pace and their output and opened a 28-point lead going into the halftime break 63-35. Sophomore co-captain Dylan Durante (Johnston, RI) drained three first half three pointers and freshman Mitchel Noresca (East Providence, RI) tallied six buckets from in and around the paint.

The second half started slow once again but CCRI matched Massasoit’s pace and held tight to their 28-point lead, leading 78-50 with 8:43 left on the clock. The Knights enjoyed another stint of explosiveness where they pulled further away right at the end of the game resulting in a 96-62 win.

CCRI was led by Mitchel Noresca scoring a career high 22 points with 18 rebounds, two blocks and one assist for his third double-double in as many games. Dylan Durante registered 17 points as he shot 5-8 from beyond the arc and added one rebound. Birthday boy sophomore Jeremy Remigio (Providence, RI) produced a productive day around the basket with 15 points, a game-high eight assists as well as six rebounds and two steals. Freshman Steve DelSesto (North Providence, RI) contributed 12 points off the bench going 2-4 from deep territory and adding three assists and two steals. Sophomore co-captain Elijah Lewis (Bridgeport, CT) chipped in 10 points, shooting 2-6 from distance and adding six assists, four steals and three rebounds.

The CCRI Knights men’s basketball will next be in action on Saturday, January 18th at 3:00 p.m. as they travel to Auburn, Maine to take on the Central Maine Community College Mustangs.
