Lady Knights Bully Bulldogs in 89-53 Region Victory!

Warwick, R.I. – January 28, 2019: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team hosted the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill Community College from Charlestown, MA on Saturday for a Region XXI non-league game. The Lady Knights defeated the Bulldogs 89-53. With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 7-10 overall and 4-2 in Region XXI play.
The Lady Knights hosted the Bulldogs to the Cullen Fieldhouse in a rematch of a game they played on November 26th that saw CCRI emerge victorious 88-44. Very similar to their earlier meeting CCRI quickly jumped ahead for the Bulldogs more than doubling their score leading 25-11 after one quarter of play. CCRI was led by Co-Captain Jada Littlejohn (Providence, RI) with eight points including two m3-pointers and freshman Jordan Northup (South Kingstown, RI) with five first quarter points including one 3-pointer.

In the second quarter the Lady Knights took their foot off the gas and allowed Bunker Hill to play them evenly as both teams scored 14 points. The Lady Knights were led by Co-Captain Waleska Kelly (Pawtucket, RI) who scored five of her career-high 19 points to give CCRI a 39-25 lead at halftime.
Once again in the third quarter the Lady Knights were back in form as they dominated play to outscore Bunker Hill 27-15 to take a 66-40 lead with just one quarter remaining. CCRI was led by Co-Captain Kat Raposo (Warwick, RI) who poured in 14 points including two 3-pointers and Co-Captain Waleska Kelly who added six more points to her career-high total.
The Lady Knights closed out the game in style outscoring BHCC 23-13 to cruise to the 89-53 victory. In the final quarter CCRI was led by Olivia Batastini-Pallister (Providence, RI) who scored seven points while Co-Captains Waleska Kelly, Jada Littlejohn and Tatyana Correia (Cranston, RI) added four points apiece.
For the first time this season, all five CCRI starters scored in double-figures lead by Co-Captain Kat Raposo with a game-high 22 points with four assists and four steals. Co-Captain Waleska Kelly charted a double-double scoring a career-high 19 points with 11 rebounds while adding four assists and four steals. Also charting a double-double for CCRI was Co-Captain Tatyana Correia who tied her career-high with 12 points while ripping down 10 rebounds and adding two assists. The Last double-double was registered by freshman Olivia Batastini-Pallister scoring 11 points with a career-high 12 assists. Co-Captain Jada Littlejohn had 16 points including three 3-pointers with seven rebounds, three assist, a steal and a blocked shot. Freshman Jordan Northup added seven points, two assists and a steal while freshman Faith Fahnbulleh (Providence, RI) had 10 rebounds, two blocked shots, a steal and two points.
The next game for the Lady Knights will be Tuesday the 29th when they travel to Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA to play the Rams in a Region XXI non-league game at 5:30pm.
