Cross Country Opens Season at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational!

Warwick, R.I. – September 17, 2018: The CCRI Knights Cross Country team traveled to North Dartmouth, MA to take part in the 2018 UMass Dartmouth in their first competition of the season. CCRI fielded four runners lead by sophomores Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) and Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) along with newcomers Gian Geruso (North Providence, RI) and Brandon Bun (Pawtucket, RI).

Sophomore Saramarie Cerullo took to the women's varsity race. She completed the 5k course in a time of 25 minutes 25.7 seconds earning her 279th overall.

On the men's side, Sophomore Kelder Cardoso led the team in the JV 8k, running the course in a time of 33:10.3 earning 103th place. Gian Geruso took 110th place, finishing in a time of 33:20.6 and Brandon Bun secured 139th place, completing the race with a time of 36:50.50.

Head Coach Greg Cornell commented after the races: "A good showing for the first meet of the year".

The next race for the Knights will be this Saturday as they travel to Boston, MA to take part in the 50th Codfish Bowl held at Franklin Park.
