Warwick, R.I. – September 24, 2018: The CCRI Knights cross country team traveled to Boston, MA to run in the 50th Codfish Bowl held at Franklin Park. CCRI fielded four runners; Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI), Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI), Gian Geruso (North Providence, RI) and Brandon Bun (Pawtucket, RI).

Saramarie Cerullo was the lone female runner for the Knights. Cerullo ran her race in a time of 24 minute and 13 seconds earning 102nd place overall on the 5k course. Leading the male contingency for CCRI was Kelder Cardoso. Cardoso ran the 8k course in 31:51 taking 75th place. However, it was the way he finished his run that was massively impressive. The last two miles (approximately 2/5 of the race) of Cardoso's run was ran at an average of five minute and thirty seconds. If Kelder could manage to run at that pace for the entirety of the 8k race, he would finish in about 28 minutes.

Also running well for the Knights were Gian Geruso and Brandon Bun. Geruso ran the 8k in a time of 34:06, placing 88th overall. Bun finished just outside the top 100, registering 101st place with a time of 38:15.

The Knights runners continue to improve and look to perform well next week as they host the Tri-State Invitational at CCRI's Lincoln Campus on Saturday, September 29th at 10am.
