Warwick, R.I. – January 22, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team hosted the Seawolves of Southern Maine Community college from Portland, ME to the Cullen Fieldhouse for a game Sunday afternoon. The Lady Knights defeated the Seawolves 68-48. With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 13-8 on the season.

For the second time in three days the Lady Knights were trying to avenge a loss for a Community College for the state of Maine. CCRI had a lead going into the fourth quarter last time they met but succumbed to the Seawolves 78-65 in Portland on January 6th so CCRI was out for revenge on their home court. Unfortunately for the Lady Knights they came out of the game very sluggish and were outscored 14-6 in the first quarter. From there freshman Jada Littlejohn (Providence, RI) was on a mission to lead her team to victory. Littlejohn poured in 11 points in the second quarter with a 3-pointer and multiple driving acrobatic lay-ups. Head Coach Brittany Brown and her staff identified a defensive mismatch for Littlejohn and it proved to be the difference in the game. At the half CCRI was still trailing by the score of 30-26 but they were in striking distance.

In the third quarter the Lady Knights played tremendous defense as they were able to get the Seawolves away from what had worked for them earlier and held SMCC to just 10 points in the quarter. From there Littlejohn added seven more points while also dishing out two assists to Tatiana Correia who converted both opportunities which accounted for 11 of the Lady Knights 20 third quarter points. CCRI led 46-40 going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Knights dominated the fourth quarter holding SMCC to just eight points while the Lady Knights scored 22 including eight from Littlejohn, six from Co-Captain Tiondra Hands (Boynton, Beach, FL) and five from freshman Kat Raposo (Warwick, RI) to help CCRI coast to the 68-48 victory.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was freshman Jada Littlejohn with a career-high 28 points with nine rebounds, two assists and a steal. Also playing well for CCRI was Co-Captain Tiondra Hands who charted a double-double consisting of 14 points with 10 assists while adding four rebounds and three steals. Also having a very good game was freshman Kat Raposo with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

The next game for the Lady Knights will be Thursday evening when they will host the Pointers of the University of Connecticut at Avery Point (UCAP) at 6pm as part of a doubleheader with the Knights who will play UCAP at 8pm.
