Warwick, R.I. – September 26, 2016: The CCRI Knights cross country team traveled to Franklin Park in Boston, MA to compete in the 48 th Codfish Bowl Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. As a team the Knights finished 14 th with 358 points out of 16 teams the first placed team was UMass-Dartmouth who finished with 38 points
Leading the way for the Knights was sophomore Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) who finished 65th in 29minutes 27 seconds followed by Mike Dutka (Chepachet, RI) who finished in 86th place in a time of 30:22. Also running week for the Knights was freshman Danny Elliott (North Attleboro, MA) who finished 100th in a personal-best time of 30:51 and Tim Chambers (Cranston, RI) finished in 101st place also in a personal best time of 30:53. Rounding out the Knights competitors was sophomore Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) who 160th in 38:41. The Race winner was Ryan O’Connell who finished with an impressive time of 25:40.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the meet “The Knights had another promising outing at the Codfish Bowl Invitational held at Franklin Park in Boston. Mike Dutka and Kody Sankey ran steady with solid times for the course. However, it was the efforts of Danny Elliott and Tim Chambers who put forth PRs that were the big story while and Ian Fletcher rounded out the team effort.”
The team looks forward to racing at home next week as we host the Tri-State Invitational. The Tri-State will be run on the CCRI Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, RI Saturday October 1 st with the Men’s race starting at 10:00am the women at 10:30am.
