Warwick, R.I. – November 13, 2016: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Essex County College in Newark, NJ for a game versus the Wolverines for a game Friday. The Lady Knights lost to Essex 91-58. With the loss CCRI falls to 2-2 on the season.
The Lady Knights had a very tough match up against a tall and talented Wolverines squad. CCRI stayed close to Essex in the first quarter but came away trailing 25-18. The Lady Knights played the Wolverines closer in the second quarter but Essex was still able to extend the lead by four points going into halftime leading CCRI 41-30. In the third quarter Essex put the game out of reach as the outs cored CCRI 30-17 to take a 71-47 lead and never looked back as they went on to win by the final count of 91-58.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Dionna Jackson(Harriston, MS) with 14 points, three rebounds and two steals followed by D’Asia Allen (Providence, RI) who score 13 points, including four 3-pointers with five rebounds and three assists. Also helping CCRI was Co-Captain Kelsey Hernandez (New Britain, CT) who scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers while making all four shots she attempted, Co-Captain Mackenzie Brayman(North Stonington, CT) with seven points, four rebounds and three assists and Fantasia Semedo (Seekonk, MA) added seven points and three assists.
The next game for the Lady Knights will be Tuesday when they travel to Middletown, NY to play the Colts of Orange County Community College for a game with a tip-off at 5:00pm.
