Warwick, R.I. – April 22, 2016: The CCRI golf team traveled to the Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, MA the home course of Holyoke Community College for a golf match Thursday. The Knights charted the low score with a 351 which was much lower than the only other complete team UMass Stockbridge who shot a team score of 376. With the victory CCRI improves to 3-2 on the season.
As a team CCRI shot a 351 led by Captain Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) who shot the low score of 74 followed by Matt O’Brien (Portsmouth, RI) who shot an 82. The two other Knights golfers to contribute to the team score were Sam Caron (Cumberland, RI) who shot a 91 and Jackie French (Scituate, RI) who shot a 104 while Meghan Rocheleau (Warwick, RI) 110 but her score was not part of the team total of 351. The only other school with a complete team was UMass-Stockbridge who shot a team score of 376. Four other Region XXI schools had golfers compete but did not have enough players to register a team score the schools were: Holyoke Community College, Mass Bay CC, Springfield Technical CC and Bristol CC.
The next match for the Knights will be Tuesday the 26th when they will travel to the home course of UMass-Stockbridge at 12noon.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
