Warwick, R.I. – April 29, 2016: The CCRI Knights played their first game of their four game road trip Thursday afternoon as they traveled to Holyoke, MA to play Region XXI opponent Holyoke Community College. The Knights started the road trip with a big 10-1 win over Holyoke to move to 13-9 on the season. The Knights also improved their Region XXI record to 6-4.

Co-Captain Evan Bertone (Douglas, MA) took the mound for the Knights on Thursday and twirled a very effective game. Bertone went six strong innings to pick up the win for the Knights. Elijah Dressel (Warwick, RI) was electric the last three innings for the Knights as he struck out eight of nine batters he faced without allowing a hit or walk.

The Knights offense hit double digit runs for the fifth time this season while posting 10 runs on 15 hits. Four of those runs came in the top of the first as the Knights set the tone early. Holyoke scored their lone run in the first and were shut out the rest of the game. CCRI added three runs in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth to round out their scoring.

Austin Davis (Hollywood, FL) had an incredible day for the Knights as he went 5-6 including his second home run of the season. Davis also scored three runs (21) and had one RBI (14). Edison Mercado (Providence, RI) went 3-4 in the game while collecting one RBI (11) and scoring twice (15). Travis Collins (Cranston, RI) also collected three hits while driving in two runs (16) for the Knights.
