Last Saturday the CCRI women’s soccer team hosted the Bulldogs from Bunker Hill Community College. The Lady Knights defeated the bulldogs 11-0. With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 2-4-1 on the season.
The Lady Knights beat the Bulldogs 11-0 scoring nine first half goals. Freshman Selena Canales (Cranston, RI) led all scorers tallying four first half goals. Freshman forward Ashley LeClair (Westerly, RI) and sophomore Tri-Captain Betti Worth (Manchester, England) each scored twice and sophomore forward Jessica Hammond (Warwick, RI) scored once to round out the first half scoring at 9-0.
Things were not much different as the second half of play began with the Lady Knights totally dominating the Bulldogs in every facet of the game as they just passed the ball around their opponents at will. Freshman forward Stepheny Perez (Providence, RI) found the back of the net on a long shot that lofted over the Bunker Hill goalkeeper’s head and into the top corner of the goal making the score 10-0. Five minutes later sophomore Betti Worth connected for her third goal of the match off of a nice cross from sophomore defender Taylor Lopes (Cumberland, RI) making the score 11-0 and that’s how it would end.
The Lady Knights will play region rival Dean College this coming Wednesday as they travel to Franklin, MA to meet the Bulldogs for the first time this season at 4:00pm.
