Lady Knights lose to Guilford Tech 83-56

The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Brooklyn, NY over the weekend to compete in the ASA College Holiday Classic.  On Friday they faced No. 13 ranked (NJCAA DII poll) 10-1 Titans of Guilford Technical Community College from Jamestown, NC.  The Lady Knights lost to the titans 83-56.  With the loss the Lady Knights fall to 7-4 on the season.   
 
The Lady Knights knew they had a tough game ahead of them with the national ranked Titans.  And quickly found out why they are ranked so highly. The Lady Knights trailed 39-26 going into halftime. In the second half Guilford extended the lead to 25 points and never looked back as they went on to win by the final score of 83-56.
 
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Co-Captain Ahnyyah Jackson (Hackensack, NJ) who scored a game-high 19 points, including two 3-pointers with seven rebounds, two steals and an assist.  Jackson was helped by Co-Captain Allexia Barros (New Bedford, MA) who also scored a game-high 19 points with game-high five 3-pointers with three rebounds and two steals and Jesse Ossian (Chandler, AZ) added seven points, five assist, five rebounds, and three steals.
 
The Lady Knights will face Red Hawks of LaGuardia Community College Saturday at 7:30pm as part of the ASA Holiday Classic.            
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
