Knights’ Tennis falls to Gloucester CC 7-2
The CCRI Knights tennis team started their 2013 season by traveling to Sewell, NJ to face the Roadrunners of Gloucester County College. The Knights loss their opening match 7-2 with the loss the Knights begin the season 0-1.
For the Knights No. 4 Singles Sean Gorman (South Kingstown, RI) and No. 6 Singles Ed Papineau (Scituate, RI) posted the only wins for the Knights who lost to the defending National Champions 7-2.
The full results included: in First Doubles: Donovan Vassolotti & Mike Perrone (GCC) defeated John Chammat (Cumberland, RI) & Ross Bouchard (South Kingstown, RI) 9-8. In Second Doubles: Jon Sjolander & Nick Louis (GCC) defeated Otniel Lopes (Pawtucket, RI) & Sean Gorman 8-6. In Third Doubles: Aaron Williams & Tim Durham (GCC) defeated Tim Holzinger (Foster, RI) & Ed Papineau 8-4.
In the Singles matches; First Singles: Donovan Vassolotti defeated John Chammat: 6-3 and 6-2. In Second Singles: Mike Perrone defeated Otniel Lopes: 6-1 and 6-0. In Third Singles: Nick Louis defeated Ross Bouchard: 7-6 and 6-1.In Fourth Singles: Sean Gorman defeated Shamell Martin: 6-4 and 6-1. In Fifth Singles: Jon Sjolander defeated Tim Holzinger (Foster) 6-1 and 6-4.nd in Sixth Singles: Ed Papineau defeated Alex Ayala 6-2, 2-6, and 1-0.
The Knights will now travel to West Windsor NJ and look to get their first win of the year when they play against the Vikings of Mercer County Community College.
