After a 15-hour long bus trip to Greensboro, NC and only three hours of sleep at the hotel, the Knights opened their season against a very strong Division 1 Guilford Tech baseball team. The Knights battled hard to keep the game close but failed to provide much offensive power as they stranded four runners in scoring position. Knights’ Co-Captain Chris Peralta (Providence, RI) pitched very well, going 4 1/3 innings in his first start of the season. Kevin Dale (Warwick, RI) relived Peralta and pitched an inning and a third of scoreless relief. The Knights were led offensively by Freshman Nick Coro(North Providence, RI) who had an RBI single in the fifth inning. The Knights got good enough pitching to win the game but could not piece together any rallies to score runs to earn the victory.

The team received strong pitching efforts from Brendan Cabral (Scituate, RI) and Connor Gleason (North Stonington, CT) to notch the first win of the season. Starting pitcher Cabral threw four solid innings and helped his own cause offensively with two hits while Gleason came on in relief going three solid innings to pick up his first collegiate victory.

The Knights’ attack was led by three of their sophomores: Marc Dorsi (West Haven, CT) had three hits and three RBI’s, Jamale Horn (Hoover, AL) also had three hits and three RBI’s while Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (Stonington, CT) added three hits and two RBI’s.
