Job Opportunities in the Writing Center

Volunteer and paid tutoring positions sometimes are available in the CCRI Writing Centers. These peer tutoring positions look great on a resume! Plus, helping other students to improve their writing is one of the best ways to enhance one’s own communication and collaborative skills, both of which are needed to be successful in college courses, in a career, and in our daily interactions with others.

Potential tutors need to have completed Composition I with a grade of “B” or higher. Paid tutors receive from $8.50 to $9.50 an hour; the higher pay rate is for tutors who have achieved CRLA Level I certification.

To apply for a peer tutoring position, a student needs to fill in an application form, have a current or a past professor fill in a faculty recommendation form, and return both forms to the Writing Center on the CCRI Knight Campus.
