About the Wellness Fair 2017


Members of the public are invited to learn more about the issues affecting their health at the 12th annual Community College of Rhode Island Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, in the Student Dining Commons at the Flanagan Campus, 1762 Louisquisset Pike, Lincoln and at the Newport County Campus Wellness Fair in the Atrium at the Newport County Campus, One John H. Chafee Blvd., Newport. Admission and provided services are free.

More than 30 displays will offer information and demonstrations on issues ranging from cancer prevention to fitness and nutrition so participants can gather resources to improve their overall health and well-being.

A diverse range of organizations will be present, including AIDS Care Ocean State, CharterCARE Health Partners,  RI Vegan Awareness, UnitedHealthcare and representatives from various financial companies. The URI Master Gardeners will offer free packets of seeds and several CCRI departments and programs also will be represented.

CharterCARE Health Partners will offer blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings. UnitedHealthcare will offer derma scans and BMI tests, and students in the college’s Therapeutic Massage program will provide chair massage treatments to attendees free of charge.

The event is sponsored by the CCRI Wellness Committee, whose mission is to provide access to information and services on leading health issues.
