The Success Centers offer the following FREE workshops to students who would like to improve their grades and/or study skills.
- Test-Taking Strategies
Students in this workshop will learn how to prepare for texts, know what to study and recognize and address symptoms of test anxiety. In addition, practical tips on how to answer multiple-choice, essay, and application or case-based questions will be covered as well. - Time Management Skills
Does it seem like you don't have enough time to accomplish your goals? Attend this workshop to learn how to develop better time saving and efficient behaviors. This workshop will discuss how to analyze your time usage as well as give you practical tips on managing your time and academic goals more efficiently. - Note-Taking Skills
Participants in this workshop will learn proven note taking techniques that will improve the quality of their class and reading notes. Different not taking styles will be explored and explained such as the Cornell and Mind Mapping methods. - Textbook Reading Strategies
Do you read and re-read your textbook, but still feel that you do not remember the information or that there is too much information to remember? Sign up for this workshop that explores more efficient methods of reading your textbooks for maximum knowledge retention. - Making Presentations
There is no way around it...most college students will have to prepare and deliver an oral presentation for at least one of their classes at CCRI! Take part in this fun and informative workshop that discusses the preparation and delivery or an oral presentation. Topics of the workshop include types of presentation, organization, use of visual aids, and body language. - TEAS Preparation Workshop
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Prep workshop series is FREE and is designed to assist students in preparing for the TEAS test. The workshop is broken into English and Mathematics units which can be taken individually or together based on participants needs. At the conclusion of the series participants will complete a practice test and review their results with the instructor. Purchase of the ATI preparation guide for the TEAS workshops is required. The text can be purchased through the college bookstore.
