Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit

Detective Petit is a twenty eight year veteran of the Warwick Police Department. Currently he conduct investigations of criminal violations which require the forensic examination of electronic media including the possession and transmission of child pornography, indecent solicitation of children, unlawful computer access, auction fraud, identity theft and network intrusions.

Experience
  • Warwick Police, 1986-present. Assigned to the Detective Division since 1993.
  • Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) Unit. 2008-present
    • Responsible for conducting computer forensic analysis on suspect electronic evidence
    • Investigates criminal violations of law to include possession and transmission of child pornography, indecent solicitation of a child, unlawful computer access, auction fraud, identity theft and network intrusions.
    • Provides forensic, investigative and technical assistance to local law enforcement agencies within the state of Rhode Island.
    • Interacts with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce to further unit's mandate.
    • Provides incident response training for law enforcement personnel and internet/computer safety to public audiences
  • Trained and certified in cell phone, computer and digital forensics by State, Federal and private sources.
