Storm Water Management Plans
The National Storm Water Program is an effort on the part of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to preserve, protect and improve the Nation's water resources from polluted storm water runoff. The Phase I and II programs require the implementation of practices to prevent or control polluted storm water runoff. Colleges and universities may be affected by any or all parts of the Storm Water Program.
CCRI's Knight Campus in Warwick and its Flanagan Campus in Lincoln are required under EPA rules to have Storm Water Programs. (The Liston Campus in Providence is not required to have such a plan because all the runoff entering its storm drains is treated by the Providence sewage treatment plant.)
CCRI has retained a consultant, Fuss & O'Neill, Inc. to write its Storm Water Management Plans and to train college personnel in its implementation. CCRI anticipates that its Storm Water Management Plan will be in place by the deadlines that will be imposed by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) when the RIDEM's final rules are published.
