Community College of Rhode IslandDAY CARE CENTERS LEAD INSPECTIONS
LEAD FREE AND LEAD-SAFE CERTIFICATION
|
| ChildCare Connection used to operate three daycare centers
at CCRI, one at the Flanagan, one at the Liston and one at the Knight
Campus. The daycare centers are presently closed. Daycare centers are licensed by the Rhode Island Department
of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
The CCRI centers serviced preschoolers between the ages of three
and five. CCRI continues to maintain the daycare centers so they can be
recertified and reopened promptly if needed in the future.
|
| The
Rhode Island Department of Health requires lead-safe certification of
any new daycare facility and yearly reinspection for it to retain its
lead-safe status. All
CCRI
day care centers were inspected by outside licensed environmental
laboratories at the time of opening and have been reinspected yearly.
All have been certified as lead safe and the results reported to the
Rhode Island Department of Health Environmental Lead Program.
|
| The Flanagan Campus Day Care Center was first inspected
and certified lead-safe in November 1998. The newly outfitted Liston
Campus center was first certified lead-free in June 1999 and requires no
yearly recertification. The newly-built Knight Campus daycare was
inspected and certified lead-free in September 2001 and requires no yearly
recertification. CCRI arranges for an
independent laboratory to reinspect the Flanagan Campus daycare center yearly.
The latest test was done March 2008. The
Rhode Island Department of Health has renewed the lead-safe
certification status of the Flanagan daycare center for the standard one year
period. The Flanagan center will be reinspected in March 2009 to
maintain its lead safe status.
