Family Independence Program
Services for Students
The REACH Family Independence Program (FIP) provides participants with academic
assistance for GED, Skill Training & College preparation.
Academic support
Instructors will provide one-on-one assistance to referees preparing for
their GED or needing academic brush-up to enroll in a skill training or
college Program and for CCRI first semester students enrolled in developmental
or their first credited Math, English, and/or Reading courses to promote
success and retention.
Mentoring
The REACH Coordinators will work with FIP / CCRI students to support
their educational goal and provide mentoring in regards to FIP policies,
procedures, compliance, and services (childcare, transportation, etc).
Early Intervention
Coordinators will provide professional, personal, and educational
intervention services when addressing potential problems threatening
their education or FIP participation.
REACH - Pathways
Services for Students
The REACH – Pathways Program offers the above services along with the
following services to FIP participants residing in Southern Rhode Island
only:
Career Exploration
Explore your career options with respect to your personal interests and
abilities. Customize your plan to help you attain your educational and/or
employment goals.
Work Readiness
Learn the skills to job hunt: write a cover letter, a resume, learn job
hunting
techniques, and interview skills.
Job Placement & Retention
Get assistance with job placement and learn successful job retention strategies.
