Message from President Di Pasquale:
Spring 2009 NEASC
accreditation update
As I mentioned briefly in my remarks at the morning session of Professional Development Day on April 3, 2009, I am pleased to report that the college has been officially advised that the NEASC fifth-year interim report has been accepted by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. This is a significant announcement and is recognition of the outstanding work undertaken over several months by dozens of faculty and staff under the leadership of Vice President Morgan.
The commission also confirmed that the college’s comprehensive 10-year evaluation will be undertaken in spring 2014. The commission asked that the college give special emphasis to addressing resource challenges in light of reduced state funding, strengthening the engagement of faculty and staff and the use of data in the decision-making process, and analyzing and assessing data reported in student assessments.
In its report, the commission commended the college for its steady progress in addressing special emphasis areas, including defining the “educated person” and aligning learning outcomes, the general education curriculum, the creation of an academic governance system and establishing criteria for faculty and staff evaluation.
Congratulations to all who participated in this important evaluation process.
