The week of March 19 through March 23, 2007, Community College of Rhode Island celebrated the Inauguration of Ray M. Di Pasquale as the college's fourth president.
President's Inauguration
Message from President Di Pasquale to the College Community
March
28, 2007
Last week’s inauguration week celebration was an outstanding week for the community college as our students, faculty and staff were showcased throughout the entire state of Rhode Island. People who’ve never had any exposure to CCRI now know so much more about us thanks to the tremendous exposure we received in media throughout the region. Those who are part of the CCRI family are bursting with pride as a result of the state’s focus on our college. As I said in my inaugural remarks, it always gives me great pause to reflect on the enormity of the college’s distinction as the only community college in Rhode Island. To think that while there are more than 1,100 community colleges nationwide, we have the distinction of being the sole community college for Rhode Island. I might be somewhat biased, but it’s important for the citizens of this state to know that they have an outstanding learning institution of which they can be proud. Once again, I want to express my thanks co-chairs to Dr. Joseph Amaral and his wife, Linda, as well as professor Jack Renza, and his wife, Marianne, for their leadership of the steering committee, as well as nearly one hundred students, faculty and staff who worked hard to make this event such a success. I also want to thank everyone who donned academic regalia and marched as “Team CCRI” on Friday afternoon. Thank you.
In order to showcase the diversity of activities during the week, the Department of Marketing and Communications is creating Web links to photos and media coverage of the various events, as well as one to the address I gave at the Installation Ceremony. Please check back frequently as stories and photos are added to this page.
