Community College of Rhode Island

CCRI Fall Classic Welcome

CCRI President Ray Di PasqualeThis year's CCRI Fall Classic on Monday, Sept. 15, was particularly special not only because it was our 20th annual event, but because it was the first fundraising event of our 50th year.

CCRI's 50th anniversary celebration began with our Opening Day Convocation for faculty and staff on Aug. 28 and will continue through our 50th commencement on May 15, 2015. In between, we are planning some fantastic events including a rededication of our recently renovated Bobby Hackett Theater, an alumni gala and much more. Read more about our plans.

Rhode Islanders have a rich history of philanthropy, and the state’s only community college has been a beneficiary of that spirit of giving through our annual Fall Classic for 19 years. In that time, you have helped us raise more than $400,000 for book awards and tuition scholarships to assist students facing economic challenges. I’m pleased to share with you that the generosity of our Fall Classic players, sponsors and donors has assisted hundreds of students who are on the path to achieving their dreams of a higher education or a meaningful career.

This year's Fall Classic included some surprises, including some special guests. We played at Alpine Country Club in Cranston and were able to take advantage of the breathtaking views and challenging holes the course offers. The experience also included excellent food and refreshments, high quality prizes and a golfer gift as well as the opportunity to provide financial assistance to deserving students.

Thanks to sponsors, players, donors and volunteers, last year's event raised more than $55,000 to help defray the expenses of college for students who continue to face challenges in this difficult economy.

A special thank you to all the sponsors, players, donors and volunteers!
