POLICY TITLE: Grant Monitoring
POLICY NUMBER: 7.15.1
EFFECTIVE: May 9, 2017
The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) applies for and receives grants from various funding sources. Once a grant has been awarded, CCRI must adhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, institutional policies and procedures, and specific grant terms and conditions. In order to ensure compliance and the future viability of grants, institutional monitoring is needed.
Grant: Is defined as external funding to the College that is secured from a federal, state, or private source to address institutional needs and advance the College’s mission and priorities. A grant differs from a contract in that specific goods or services are not purchased; rather, a program or organization is supported. Grants are often awarded in response to specific Requests for Proposals (RFPs), which include the funding source’s expectations, including outcomes, objectives, timelines, budgets, evaluation requirements, and reporting procedures.
All exceptions to this policy must be approved, in writing, by the President or the President’s designee.
