POLICY TITLE: CWCE Refunds

POLICY NUMBER: 6.1.3

EFFECTIVE: April 2013


A. BACKGROUND:

The Center for Workforce and Community Education at the Community College of Rhode Island is the institution’s office responsible for coordinating non-credit programs in customized training, community education, literacy education and personal enrichment courses at all four campus locations as well as several off-campus locations.

B. POLICY STATEMENT:

Students must provide a minimum of 48-hours’ notice prior to the start of a course in order to be eligible for a refund. Without proper notice or documented medical excuse, students will be required to re-register and pay. No partial refunds of tuition are made under any circumstances. Books and materials may be non-refundable depending on the course. Students are eligible for a refund in full if the course has been cancelled by CWCE.

C. PROCEDURES:

Students with a documented medical excuse:

  1. Students with a documented medical excuse should submit documentation to a CWCE staff member.
  2. The CWCE staff member will forward documentation to the Program Coordinator or his/her designee.
  3. Upon approval, the student will be notified and eligible to transfer to another available course or receive a refund in full.

Students providing notice within a minimum of 48 hours:

  1. Students providing proper notice will be eligible to transfer to another available course or receive a refund in full.

Students wishing to appeal this refund decision:

  1. Students wishing to appeal this refund decision should submit a letter in writing to the Program Coordinator or his/her designee.
  2. Upon decision, the student will be notified by the Program Coordinator or his/her designee.
  3. Students wishing to appeal this decision should submit a letter in writing to the Program Director.
  4. Upon decision, the student will be notified by the Director or his/her designee.
