Long-Term Disability

Long-term disability benefits are provided to help eligible employees cope with an illness or injury that results in a long-term absence from employment. Long-term disability benefits are designed to ensure a continuing income for employees who are disabled and unable to work.

Employees participating in the AIG, MetLife or TIAA-CREF retirement plans are automatically covered by the long-term disability plan of Standard Insurance Company subject to all terms and conditions of that plan; and employees participating in the State Employees' Retirement System (ERS) are automatically covered by the long-term disability plan of ERS subject to all terms and conditions of that plan. Details of the long-term disability benefits plan including benefit amounts, limitations, and restrictions are described in the summary plan description.
