Important Financial Aid Information

REMINDER FOR FINANCIAL AID RECIPIENTS:

Please check your 2009-2010 Student Aid Report (SAR) before January 11, 2010, to be certain you have a current e-mail and mailing address.

By doing so students who meet the eligibility requirements by January 11, 2010, will be sent a renewal e-mail or letter reminder before February 16, 2010, to use FAFSA on the Web to reapply for financial aid for 2010-2011.

EFFECTIVE MONDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2009

If you applied for financial aid and do not have an award posted for spring 2010 on your MyCCRI account, you should enroll in the deferred payment plan (TMS) to preserve your courses.  For information regarding TMS please visit www.ccri.edu/bursar/ and select the Interest-Free Monthly Payment Plan link.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS

·         Bills will not be mailed to any student who enrolls in classes after January 6, 2010

·         Students who enroll in classes but do not make payment or payment arrangements may jeopardize their courses

·         Students are responsible for paying for all classes in which they are enrolled

·         Students who register during the late period beginning January 12, 2010, will be assessed a $30 late fee

Students are responsible for dropping all courses they are not planning to attend and are responsible for payment of courses in which they are enrolled. Students should NOT assume they will be dropped from a class for non-payment, as there are many factors that will determine whether and when a student is dropped for non-payment. It is the student's responsibility to verify his or her enrollment status. To verify enrollment status, students can view their schedules in MyCCRI.

PLEASE NOTE: CCRI’s priority financial aid application (FAFSA) date for 2009-2010 was May 1, 2009. At this time all Financial Aid applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis after the student has submitted all of the paperwork necessary to complete his/her file. Financial Aid applicants are financially responsible for their bill and should enroll in the deferred payment plan. Doing so will avoid courses for which students have registered from being dropped due to non-payment. If applicants complete their file with the Financial Aid Department and it is determined they are eligible for financial aid, they may be reimbursed later in the semester. Financial Aid recipients who are eligible for a refund will receive that refund mid-to-late November for the fall term and mid-to-late April for the spring term. At this time, it may not be possible to give full consideration for all financial aid programs to eligible students who file late applications. The deadline to apply for the RI State Grant Program for 2009-2010 ended March 1, 2009. Any student who applied after March 1, 2009, is not eligible to receive RI State Grant Funds.

Financial Aid applicants are advised to allow 10 – 14 days after their file is complete to check their MyCCRI account to see if they are eligible and if they have received an award. If there is no award posted on your account after this time period, you should check MyCCRI by clicking on the “For Student” tab and on the “Financial Aid” link to review your record for other possible information.
