Student Loan Information
Need help applying for a loan? Federal Stafford loans are considered part of financial aid so your first step is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and list CCRI as your College (004916 school code). Once you have completed the FAFSA, you may also be required to submit additional paperwork to the College and should check your MyCCRI account frequently. Once you have completed this process, you may apply for a Stafford loan to assist you with your tuition payments. Please note that you must be academically eligible in order to receive a loan. You also must be registered and maintain 6 credits per semester and be accepted into an eligible degree or certificate program no later than the add period for the semester you are applying. Please note that the Bursar does not disburse loans until late October for the fall semester and late March for the spring semester, so please plan accordingly.
Please note: Loans are available for the Fall and Spring terms only. CCRI does not process loans for the Summer term.
Here is the information that you will need in order to apply for a loan at CCRI:
Loan Process:
- Complete Entrance Counseling online via www.webfinaid.com and print/sign the results.
- Print and complete the Stafford Loan Request. Please be certain everything is answered or this may delay processing. The requested amount should be what you need for your tuition and fees and not all requested amounts can be approved. This process takes approximately 2-3 weeks so please plan accordingly.
- Print and complete the Stafford Loan Application (Master Promissory Note). Please be certain every question is answered, with no cross-outs or white-out as this is a legal document. Be sure to also chose a lender and be certain the name and lender code are on your application. Please also be certain that references are completed in full so that it will not delay the processing of your application.
- We have listed recommended lenders below. These lenders have been selected based on service provided to students, their rates, and the service provided to the College.

Loan Application Deadlines
- For Fall 2009
- You must complete the entire financial aid process by August 1, 2009 in order to utilize proceeds for your tuition, fees and books
- You must complete the entire financial aid process no later than October 17, 2009 in order to apply proceeds to your fall bill. No loans will be processed after this date
- For Spring 2010
- You must complete the entire financial aid process by December 10, 2009 in order to utilize proceeds for your tuition, fees and books
- You must complete the entire financial process no later than March 10, 2010 in order to apply proceeds to your spring bill. No loans will be processed after this date
