Mission Initiative Committee Historical Timeline
The Mission Initiative Committee was established in December 2004.
Committee Activities
January, 2005
The committee met for the first time on January 28, 2005 and designed a strategy for revising CCRI’s mission statement. This strategy outlined an education process as well as a process for inclusion and transparency.
February, 2005
Co-Chair Warren, presented the committee’s strategy to Department
Chairs (2/8/05).
An On-Line Survey was conducted and tabulated for the survey. 120
responses were tabulated (Results are available on line).
March, 2005
As transparency and inclusion remained a priority for the committee,
a website was developed (http://www.ccri.edu/mission)
12 discussion forums were scheduled on all four campuses (60
participants). Notes recorded by committee members of the discussion are
available on line. A power point presentation was developed and used for
consistency across all discussion forums.
April, 2005
Three (3) Subcommittees were established to review data collected from Vision Initiative (2001), on-line survey and public forums.
May-June, 2005
- Revision of Statements (6/14/05)
- Revised Statements released to College Community (6/23/05)
- Elicit feedback and reaction from College Community
- Meeting with Department Chairs (5/17/05)
- Survey Mailed to all CCRI employees (interoffice, home, 6/23/05)
- Survey available on-line (e-mail with link to survey 6/23/05)
- President’s Council (6/29/05)
- Elicit support from the President’s Council to focus on Mission during Opening Day Activities. (6/29/05)
July-August, 2005
- Survey Data collection continued until the 31st of July.
- Currents article (campus newsletter)
- Progress Report for NEASC
- Opening Day Activities.
September 1, 2005
Approximately 450 members of the college community participated in an evaluation of the most recent draft statements generated by the Mission Initiative Committee.
September-October 2005
Committee members reviewed the data and comments generated from Opening Day Activities and proceeded to redraft statements.
November 2005
- Revised Statements released to President’s Council.
- 11/9/05 – President’s Council approved Mission Statement with minor revisions
- 11/18/05 - Revised Statements released to the College Community.
- 11/18/05 – Statements submitted to Board of Higher Education. Presentation to Board of
- Governors scheduled for 1/13/06
December 2005
Presentation to Board of Governors postponed.
January 2006
1/3/06 – Informed the mission statement needs revision by Board of Higher Education
February 2006
2/24/06 – Co-Chairs met with President DiPasquale to determine next steps. Committee will be asked to reconvene and revise.
April 2006
4/10/06 – Co-Chairs attended an Accreditation Review Team Meeting. Mission Committee to meet on 4/13/06
