Preliminary reading of the comments provided suggested that the committee needs to revisit both the Vision and Mission statement. The statements are too long, lack passion and need to be more inspirational. The core values identified generally met with the college community's approval, however, they too, need to be reworked.
The subcommittee identified the following revised mission statements that were submitted, for further evaluation.
#1 CCRI’s mission is to provide accessible, affordable educational opportunities that encourage excellence and assist individuals to become successful students, citizens and contributing members in a diverse society.
#2 CCRI’s mission is to provide accessible, affordable educational opportunities that encourages student success, promotes continuing education, develops informed citizens, cultivates community involvement, embraces diversity, contributes to economic development and encourages the pursuit of excellence.
#3 CCRI’s mission is to provide accessible, affordable educational opportunities that promotes student success, develops informed citizens, cultivates community service, embraces diversity, contributes to economic development and encourages the pursuit of excellence.
The following vision statement, also submitted, was discussed and reviewed.
CCRI’s vision is to become a community of learners that empowers individuals to realize their personal goals and potential.
Core value statements were quickly reviewed to shorten them.
Commitment to Excellence - Creating new learning opportunities, embracing innovative change, promoting professional development, enabling student success with diverse support services, recognizing exemplary teaching, upholding high academic standards, and exhibiting institutional integrity
Community - Cultivating an inclusive learning environment that practices collaboration, values diversity, and develops partnerships that enrich our programs and serve the community.
Responsiveness - Provide access to programs and services that blend thoughts and actions to meet academic, professional and personal aspirations and community needs.
Integrity - Holding ourselves to the highest standards of professional accountability, ethical practice and institutional integrity by creating an environment that values open communication, treats everyone with dignity, promotes mutual respect, and maintains the highest level of public trust
The raw data will be typed and distributed to Committee members along with the above suggestions.
