July 11, 2005 - Notes
Vision, Mission and Values
- Dennis to distribute survey materials to committee members.
- Committee should review responses and incorporate, where
necessary, into the statements.
- Committee asked to come to next meeting with at least one idea
to engage Opening Day audience through interactivity.
- Suggestion that information on V, M, and V be mailed to college
community in advance of Opening Day.
- One of the messages to be delivered is that mission should be
continually evaluated. This is just the beginning of the process.
- More facilitators needed; suggestion to ask Department Chairs.
- Reward & Recognition program to be created to recognize members
of the college community who incorporate college Values in their
professional and personal lives.
- Next meeting, Tuesday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m.
Opening Day
- Need for a separate group to coordinate details of Opening Day;
develop overall program; location, refreshments, lunch, etc.
- Critical that concise introductory remarks tie all NEASC
initiatives together and explain how they connect. Is there a
faculty member of long-standing who would do?
- Committee felt that program should be fast-paced. For example:
- As audience enters field house, pertinent information to be
shown on screens.
- For recognition of new employees, suggestion made to
recognize new faculty and staff in a handout with bio and
photos. To move this portion of the program along, individual
would be recognized by name only.
- Suggestion to provide name tags to attendees.
